2008 Abstract Submission Guidelines 

Email abstracts in a MS Word document to abstracts@newcvhorizons.com and a confirmation of receipt will be sent to you within 24 hours. 

Deadline: Friday, August 1, 2008 5:00 p.m. CST

 Abstract Selection and Presentation

  1. Accepted abstracts will be presented at NCVH 2008 as either an electronic poster presentation (in PowerPoint format) or as a traditional paper poster. Digital posters will consist of 10 slides and will be available for viewing in 4 cyber stations throughout the hotel and will also be available online after the meeting.  Presentation format will be left to the discretion of the abstract author/presenter.
  2. Abstracts accepted for presentation will be distributed at NCVH in print in an abstract publication and will be numbered to correlate with the digital and paper poster presentations.
  3. Abstract presenters must register for the conference, but will receive a 50% discount.
  4. The registration fee will be waived for fellows who are presenting an abstract (verification of active fellowship status from the program director is required).

Abstract Submission The abstract submission process begins on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 8:00 am CST. All abstracts must be submitted via email in a Microsoft Word document to abstracts @newcvhorizons.com.  Please include full contact information of the presenting/submitting author in the body of the email (full name, mailing address, email, phone, fax).

Abstracts must be electronically submitted via email by August 1, 2008, 5:00 pm CST.

E-mail notifications of submission will be sent within 72 hours of submission.

New Cardiovascular Horizons 2008

Abstract Submission Deadline: Friday, August 1, 2008, 5:00 p.m. CST 

General Information

Abstracts should address an area of cardiac disease, peripheral vascular disease, diabetes, critical limb ischemia, podiatry/wound care, nursing, and residents (clinical studies, basic investigation, and animal studies are equally encouraged) and constitute original research, but the content may include portions of prior abstracts and/or manuscripts presented elsewhere.

Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to present, if accepted. Failure to present may jeopardize future acceptance of abstracts.

Abstract presenters are encouraged to register for the conference.

The registration fee will be waived for fellows. Verification of active fellowship status from the program director is required upon registration.

Abstract Title

Abstract titles should be concise and should not contain abbreviations. The first letter of each word should be capitalized.

Abstract Authors

The submitting author is automatically designated as the primary/presenting author.

Abstracts must be submitted in English.

You MUST include Title, Author(s), Author(s) affiliation(s) and Category data in your abstract before the actual text of the abstract. (See example template below)

Abstracts must include: Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.

The maximum number of words allowed is 450 (title, authors and affiliations do not count against your 450 words).

The addition of a table deducts 50 words from the total 450 word total. (Figures are not allowed during the submission process but are highly encouraged for accepted poster presentations).

Use zeros before decimal points: 0.05, not .05. Use decimal points, not commas: 0.05, not 0,05. Use lowercase "p" values (p<0.05).

Provide manufacturer name and location in parentheses for all brand or trade names. For brand drugs, include generic names in parentheses.

All abbreviations must be spelled out in parentheses the first time it is used.

Do not include references, credits, or grant support.

Abstract Withdrawal

Requests for abstract withdrawals must be received electronically by August 8, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. CST. Withdrawal requests should be sent to: abstracts@newcvhorizons.com.

Abstract Review and Notification

Abstracts are peer-reviewed by the NCVH peer-review committee selected by the NCVH faculty. All grading is blinded prior to peer-review.

Abstract acceptance notifications will be sent out to the presenting/submitting author via email no later than Friday, August 8, 2008.
