2008 NCVH ACCREDITATION CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION This multidisciplinary international conference offers the practicing physician, podiatrist, resident, nurse and other allied health professionals a comprehensive overview of the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease and critical limb ischemia (CLI) with emphasis on peripheral vascular disease (PVD), coronary artery disease (CAD), limb salvage, and the diabetic foot and wound care. A multidisciplinary team approach will be utilized to highlight the recent advancements that have been made in the field of cardiovascular medicine and CLI with an emphasis on the high association of PVD and CAD. In addition to didactic lectures and workshops, the internationally acclaimed conference faculty will review concepts, as well as cutting edge non-surgical and surgical revascularization techniques for limb salvage. CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this offering, the participant should be able to assess:
- CLI and cardiovascular disease risk factors with particular regard to diabetes
The pathogenesis, classification, and differential diagnoses of peripheral vascular disease and CLI
The various testing modalities to aid in the diagnosis of foot ulcerations and CLI
The use of pharmacologic agents and local treatments in the care of the non-healing foot wound
The non-surgical intervention (balloon angioplasty and stenting, drug-eluting stents, excimer laser, cryotherapy, and plaque excision) and the surgical options available to revascularize the ischemic foot
New non-surgical and surgical options emerging in treatment of cardiovascular disease and CLI
Diabetes Update - newest treatment for diabetes and its complications
CHF Update - Role of new therapies in treatment of CHF
New aggressive treatments for stroke - carotid stenting
Primary and secondary prevention update - cholesterol - exercise
Creative surgical, non-surgical, and local therapies for limb salvage
Newest medical, pharmacological, surgical and device treatments for coronary artery disease

SICP (Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals): Portions * of this program (SICP Review Course) are ASRT (American Society of Radiologic Technologies) and American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) accredited. *Exact hours to be determined by April 1, 2008. ASRT (American Society of Radiologic Technologies): Portions * of this program (Cath Lab Symposium) have been approved by the ASRT for Category A Continuing Education Credits. *Exact hours to be determined by April 1, 2008. ACVP (Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals): ACVP is a recognized provider of CEUs for cardiovascular professionals through its own Cardiovascular & Pulmonary (CaPCE) continuing education program. Every 60 minutes of the program is entitled to 1 contact hour or .1 CEU. In addition, ACVP is also a licensed BRN provider in the state of California thereby providing CEUs to RNs, as well. ACVP will also seek CEUs through CaPCE for all portions of the program supported by its members. Physical Therapy: The Board of Physical Therapy Examiners approval is pending. AAFP (American Academy of Family Physicians): This activity will be reviewed and acceptance is pending by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
