About NCVH New Cardiovascular Horizons (NCVH) conference, scheduled September 10-13, 2008 in New Orleans, is the fourth largest cardiovascular conference in the nation. NCVH began in 2000 as a small, regional cardiovascular, podiatry and wound care meeting hosted by Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS), a south Louisiana group of cardiovascular physicians. The conference brought specialists together who were involved in all aspects of limb salvage, podiatry, wound care and peripheral vascular treatment. This multidisciplinary philosophy is the approach that drives the growth and diversification of NCVH.
Since then, the conference has become the largest multidisciplinary conference to bring together cardiologists, fellows, residents, imaging professionals, surgeons, interventional radiologists, podiatrists, wound care specialists, cath lab techs, nurses, technologists, physician assistants, endocrinologists, family practice physicians, internal medicine specialists, pharmacists, EMTs, diabetologists, pharmacologists and vascular medicine specialists.
Each year, the conference brings 3,500+ attendees, 125+ exhibitors , 180+ faculty and 200+ scientific presentations including individuals who are considered legends in the field of medicine, such as Dr. Julio Palmaz, the inventor of the coronary stent that bears his name and Dr. Edward Diethrich, inventor of the sternal saw used in open chest surgery.
Once again, NCVH will feature live satellite broadcast of interventional cases. A panel of renowned physicians will narrate and discuss the cases during educational sessions, as they are viewed on wide screen by attendees. This dynamic teaching approach will allow participants to experience decision making and procedures in real time.
Now in its ninth year, NCVH has expanded in both attendance and focus to includes sessions not only for cardiovascular, podiatry and woundcare, but also the cath lab tech, RN and an entire range of cardiovascular health care professionals. While NCVH is a multidisciplinary conference addressing the entire field of medicine, we will offer the 4th Annual International CLI (Critical Limb Ischemia) Summit, as well as the 3rd Annual Endovenous-DVT Summit as part of the conference, which will bring together world leaders to address the “global epidemic” of CLI, DVT and amputations. The CLI Summit and NCVH is highlighted by “live limb salvage” cases transmitted from CIS.
Additional conference highlights include: the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC) Session; the CTA Dinner Symposium; Inaugural Michael E. DeBakey, MD VA Symposium; the Indo American Society of Interventional Cardiology (ISIC) Session; multiple "hands-on" workshops; and multiple breakfast, lunch and dinner symposia. While in New Orleans, don't forget the fun you'll have at NCVH while you experience a Mardi Gras Style Parade, Jazz Cocktail Reception and Achievement Award Ceremony.
As the conference continues to grow each year bringing new technology, topics and procedures, so does the presence of attendees. In fact, there are attendees from every state in the nation, as well as a huge presence from an international audience.
Registrants completing the 2008 NCVH conference earn up to 30+ continuing medical education credits (CMEs) or contact hours (CEUs).

What Others are Saying... Hear what attendees, exhibitors and faculty say about the conference:
“I think as these guys always do, they are on the leading edge. They're offering more opportunities, they're looking at how people can learn new technology and most importantly, get trained so that they're going to be proficient at it. And I think you see that when you look at the screens because these guys do very good work. They joke around a lot and they have a lot of fun with it, but the quality is so good. And I think that's what they're trying to offer to other people with these courses and the whole educational process-so it's going great! - Edward Diethrich, MD, Founder, Medical Director, Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery Arizona Heart Institute; Medical Director and Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery, Arizona Heart Hospital
"You know what I like best about this conference, it represents so many partnerships and it reaches out to a lot of different segments that don't ordinarily participate in a conference like this. It is so important for the organizers of this meeting to get a lot of groups together to support a common idea - patient care." - B. Waine Kong, PhD, JD, CEO Association of Black Cardiologists
“At Medtronic we feel like this is the premier peripheral vascular conference in America and we're very happy to be a part of it. Dr. Walker and Dr. Allie have done a wonderful job building this up to be one of the most outstanding conferences in America!” - Terry Roberts, Regional Manager, Medtronic Vascular
“I think that we - NCVH, CIS and Bacchus and many other people here today owe it to the community to do something while we achieve our commercial goals. So I think this venue has turned out to be exactly what we're looking for!” - Ashok Kaul, Vice President of Marketing, Bacchus Vascular
“Cardiovascular disease really affects us from head to toe. The meeting is the right meeting, at the right time and really for the right purpose. And that is why the attendance is so well… Well, we’re very proud to have the masters and legends of cardiovascular disease, and not only cardiovascular disease… also podiatry, nursing, wound care, endocrinology- really top of the line faculty throughout the world. It’s a top of the line educational and social event.” - David E. Allie, MD, Chief of Cardiothoracic and Endovascular Surgery, Cardiovascular Institute of the South/Lafayette, NCVH Conference Co-Chairman
“This conference is really aimed at the entire gammit of the treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease not just the heart, but disease from head to toe. Really, very few conferences do that. We are looking to help train everyone. We are trying to train the primary care physicians, the interventionist, the radiologist, the podiatrist, everyone that treats this sort of disease.” - Craig M. Walker, MD, Founder and Medical Director of Cardiovascular Institute of the South, NCVH Conference Co-Chairman
